Vegan in NJ, NYC and Philadelphia: 25 plant-based destinations to visit this summer
Vegans, the road is calling.
There are countless plant-based reasons to travel across New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania this summer.
Here are 25 of the essentials, each of which is entirely free of animal products on the menu.
Atlantic City Vegan Food Festival: The epicenter of the vegan world on the East Coast this summer is the Atlantic City Vegan Food Festival, returning to the Showboat Atlantic City Hotel Friday, July 12 through Sunday July 14.
The weekend will include a headlining appearance by actress and activist Harley Quinn Smith of “Yoga Hosers” and Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood.”
Smith will be in conversation with Alex Biese, features reporter for the USA TODAY NETWORK New Jersey and the Asbury Park Press.
The weekend also will include a vegan food truck festival, a boardwalk 5k run, a podcast festival, a vegan brunch, a fashion show and more than 150 vegan and plant-based vendors.
General admission tickets are $8 for the July 12 food truck festival, $15 for the food festival if purchased by Thursday, July 11 and $10 for the food truck festival and $20 for the food festival on the days of the event. Kids 13 and under are free.
The organizers of the Atlantic City Vegan Food Festival will present a vegan pop-up shop 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18 at Convention Hall in Asbury Park and the New Jersey VegFest Saturday, Nov. 16 and Sunday, Nov. 17 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus.
